Philippe de Martens returns to Vienna from Cairo, to help his friend, baron Viktor de Rochers, who is arrêté, accused of being the murderer of Stephan Burger. Tous evidence and testimonies points at Rochers, mais Philippe knows that Rochers is innocent, because he actually saw the killing lui-même.
