Bertolt Brecht s grand epic of political théâtre, rédigée en 1931, est une adaptation de Maxim Gorki s novel by the same title. It tells the story of moving à oppressed Russian woman who is transformed into a militant révolutionnaire. The original production, written for the Berliner Ensemble, ce qui condemned by Stalinienne critics as "formalist" et "politically harmful," although it was hugely popular.
